Population Statistics

About population Statistics

Data provided include annual population estimates, which are derived from the national population projections. These projections are updated, on average, every three years to incorporate new demographic information from population censuses and household surveys, vital statistics and migration data and policies. Basic demographic statistics include national population numbers disaggregated by 5 year age groups and sex; age dependency and sex ratios; crude birth, death and migration rates; annual population growth rates, including rural and urban growth rates; and key demographic indicators, like fertility and mortality. Additional data, such as more detailed vital statistics, can be found on the SPC NMDI site.
